This Peter Sherman is a mystery to me…. maybe my readers can help me determine where he fits in the family line.
As you can see, this Peter Sherman was born around 1810, too old to be the child of our ancestor Henry Sherman whose date of birth was 1801. Was he perhaps Henry’s brother? A cousin? Or possibly he’s not related to Henry at all…. I really don’t know at this point. If anyone reading this has the answer I’d love to hear from you. Thanks!

Susan, I have a Peter Sherman b. Nov 9, 1811 in Sullivan, Pennsylvania, d. Oct 22, 1861. He is listed as the brother of Henry Sherman 1801-1878. My notes come from genealogy history compiled by various family members.

Hello Greg,
Nice to get your comment..thanks! My husband is descended from Moses Benjamin Sherman and before Moses there would be Henry, of course, but then things get kind of confusing! The practice of using names over and over through generations can make it hard to sort the lines out…but of course you already know that. We’d be happy to share what we have on the Shermans and really appreciate your willingness to share too.
We live in Washington State and really enjoyed a trip to Pennsylvania several years ago to research the Shermans. Are you a native Pennsylvanian?
Looking forward to hearing from you again.
